Never more at home than behind six-strings, Ryan is a versatile session guitarist bringing character and sparkle to the studio or stage.
Twenty-years with a guitar in his hands, Ryan has developed an adaptable voice and style on the instrument that has been guided by many musical collaborators, influences and mentors including Ben Hauptmann, Dave Longo, Steve Brien, Michael Dolce and others.
As a live and studio session player, Ryan has contributed to projects by Go-Jo, Mia Rodriguez, Lola Scott, Froyo, Australian Idol, Far Land Creative, Fever Candlelight Concerts, Chantel Cofie, Pearl, Darcy Lane, A Girl’s A Gun, The Grunge Show, Imbue Acoustic Duo and the orchestra pits of many musicals.
Ryan’s credo has been to always play to the song, keep things sonically interesting but appropriate, and to check any ego or gratuitousness at the door. He has kept engaged as an educator, teaching guitar privately to high school and HSC music students.
Ryan plays Fender, Gretsch, Dean and Taylor guitars, Marshall amplifiers, D’Addario strings, Line 6 effects and Pig Hog cables.
